What a fast season!

It's hard to believe the Barracudas have already completed all of our dual meets.  The Barracudas swam a great meet at our VDN pool against the Oak Meadow Stingrays on Monday, June 20, setting 2 new records, and the results have been posted.  The meet ran very smoothly because our swimmers cooperated well, the coaches prepared the swimmers well, and our volunteers did a great job making sure everything went well.  I couldn't have asked for a better run meet as my last meet as the Barracuda Chairman.

I hope to build a thank-you page soon to give better recognition to some special people, but here's a little taste to get started.

Big thanks to Jim Olson for supplying the Full Service Auto Parts smoker and his grilling expertise for the hamburgers and hot dogs.  They were so good, the concessions crew had to go buy more during the meet.  And thank you, Liz Olson, our starter for our home meets, for running fair starts and keeping the meet moving.

A wonderful thank you to Lori & Danny VanDeWalle and Jane Guenther for preparing and running concessions.  There kids that weren't swimming all pitched in to help out, too.

Thank you to Randy Mowry for running the 50/50 raffle and to Marc & Michelle Crane, the winners, for contributing half of their winnings back to the Barracudas!

A heart-swelled thank you to Lisa McGovern for performing our national anthem so beautifully!

Clock-stopping gratitude to Murphy "Murf" Emmons, our head timer, for ensuring all of our stopwatches were reenergized and ready, and for leading us to "good times" at the meet.

Of course, another thank you to Chris Koval.  Chris again set up and ran our sound system for the meet, and turned on the lights when needed.

Thank you Cheryl Koval and Cecilia Bruce!  Cheryl really got the ready-bench running well by helping the other team get organized, and Cecilia jumped in to fill the gaps with the blanket parents.

Thank you Ray Myles and Kelly Marlow for diligently securing the volunteers necessary to run the meets.  They and I appreciate the positive responses from the parents that met their commitments and said "yes" when asked for last minute help.  For the no-show volunteers and those that didn't want to be bothered with volunteering, not so much.  (had to be said)

And all of our volunteers did a wonderful job at the meet.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
